We are seeking an experienced Mine-Site Controller to provide oversight, coordination, and planning for all aspects of financial management at our mine site. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic and hard working team.


As Mine-Site Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing the finance and accounting operations of the mine site, collaborating with the corporate finance team, mine site finance team, and various departments to develop financial statements, regulatory reporting, and contributing to the overall financial success of the organization.



Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and publish monthly financial statements and coordinate quarterly financial statements with Management Discussion and Analysis
  • Research technical accounting issues and support non-routine transaction accounting through memo writing
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and reporting, including compliance with internal controls
  • Manage a mine site finance team of 3 direct reports, ensuring accurate transaction recording
  • Lead month-end and year-end closing processes and monitor internal controls in collaboration with auditors
  • Develop, document, and improve business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls
  • Prepare budgets and financial forecasts, reporting variances and analyzing financial performance
  • Maintain effective planning processes, coordinating the finance calendar with key dates and deliverables
  • Proactively present analytics to drive financial and operational excellence and assist senior finance management with ad hoc analysis
  • Support the preparation of management and Board of Director reports, providing actionable recommendations to senior leadership


What we need from you:

  • CPA designated is preferred
  • 5+ years of accounting and reporting (including consolidations) experience within the mining sector
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP
  • Advanced Excel skills. System savvy with the ability to learn new technology quickly
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience coaching and mentoring a team
