Immediate Opportunity: Vena Financial Systems Consultant (2-3-Month Contract)

Location: Mississauga, ON

Flexibility: Hybrid

Pay Rate: $50-60/hour (Negotiable based on experience)

The Opportunity

Our client, a rapidly growing organization with a strong first half of the year, is seeking an experienced Vena Financial Systems Consultant for an immediate 3-month contract. This is a critical role to help navigate the final stages of a Vena implementation and build out key financial models. You'll be joining a dynamic team that includes a new CFO, CTO, and CEO, all committed to optimizing their financial systems.

Our client recently implemented Vena, and while the initial setup had some challenges, they are now in the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) phase and are encountering a number of errors. They are looking to transition away from their current third-party consultant and bring in a dedicated expert to ensure a successful completion of Phase 1 and robust support for Phase 2.

This role requires someone who can jump in midway through an implementation, quickly assess current challenges, and provide hands-on support. The ideal candidate will have a strong finance background with proven expertise in Vena, particularly in complex modeling and data migration.

What You'll Do

  • UAT Cleanup: Help identify, troubleshoot, and resolve errors discovered during the User Acceptance Testing phase to ensure a smooth transition to live operation.
  • Vena Module Setup: Configure and build out critical financial modules within Vena, including:
  • Cash Flow modeling
  • Balance Sheet modeling
  • 3-5 year strategic financial model
  • Complex Marketplace module (handling 500M redemptions)
  • Headcount reporting
  • Month-End Close Support: Assist in completing the July and/or August month-end close processes within Vena, bringing them across the finish line.
  • Data Migration: Migrate historical financial data from NetSuite to Vena, specifically from 2022 to the present, ensuring accuracy and completeness from NetSuite files to Vena for pull-through.
  • User Training & Enablement: Support the internal team with comprehensive user training, empowering them to leverage Vena effectively. You will take ownership of the Vena system and teach the team how to use it, acting as the primary Vena subject matter expert.
  • Perform related projects or special assignments as required by management.

What You'll Bring

  • Proven Vena Expertise: Extensive hands-on experience with Vena, including complex model building, module configuration (cash flow, balance sheet, forecasting), and reporting/dashboard development.
  • Strong Financial Acumen: A solid finance background is essential to understand the underlying business requirements for financial modeling and reporting.
  • Data Migration Experience: Demonstrated ability to migrate large datasets between financial systems, specifically from NetSuite to Vena.
  • Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting: Excellent analytical skills to identify, diagnose, and resolve system errors and data discrepancies in a live UAT environment.
  • Training & Enablement Skills: Ability to effectively train and support end-users, fostering self-sufficiency within the finance team.
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Other Requirements

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must be legally entitled to reside and work in Canada.
  • Willingness to be in the office twice a week in Mississauga, ON.
