This is an exciting time to contribute to a newly formed finance team and ensure the smooth continuation of critical financial operations during a period of transition. You will play a vital role in maintaining financial stability and providing essential support while the organization strategically identifies its permanent team structure.
What You'll Do
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing twice monthly using Payworks, ensuring timely and accurate compensation for all employees.
- Oversee revenue processing, including meticulous tracking of revenue deposits and performing reconciliations to guarantee accuracy.
- Execute month-end financial activities, including reconciliations, to provide timely and reliable financial reporting.
- Conduct complex revenue reconciliations, leveraging strong analytical skills to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Utilize advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions, to analyze financial data and create insightful financial models.
- Perform other essential accounting tasks such as managing prepaids, recording capital asset depreciation, tracking investments, and completing bank reconciliations.
- Collaborate effectively with a small finance team to ensure the seamless execution of critical financial processes and maintain operational efficiency.
- Potentially present financial information clearly and concisely to individuals without a finance background.
What You Bring
- Solid accounting knowledge, ideally with progress towards or near completion of a professional accounting designation.
- Demonstrated strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze data and perform variance analysis effectively.
- Exceptional proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to create and utilize pivot tables, VLOOKUP functions, and develop robust financial models.
- Experience with revenue reconciliation, ideally with complex datasets.
- Familiarity with payroll processing, particularly using Payworks.
- Experience with QuickBooks and Telpay for payments is an asset.
- Ideally, experience working in a smaller company with diverse responsibilities, showcasing adaptability and a broad understanding of financial operations.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Other Important Details
- This is a full-time contract position for a minimum of 3 months, with the potential for extension.
- The hourly rate is anticipated to be between $40-$50/hr based on previous experience and designation.
- The work environment follows a hybrid model, requiring in-office presence on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at their office located downtown.
