Industry: Pharmaceutical Manufacturing / CDMO

Position Type: Existing Vacancy

About the Opportunity

Our client is a PE-backed contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) in the GTA, entering a pivotal phase focused on strengthening finance infrastructure and supporting exit readiness. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Interim VP of Finance will take full ownership of the finance function—spanning controllership and FP&A—during a high-priority execution window. This engagement is ideal for a hands-on finance leader who thrives in lean environments, can deliver investor-ready reporting with speed and precision, and can partner closely with Operations and Commercial leaders to elevate insight and decision support. You’ll inherit a solid accounting foundation and play a key role in building more robust FP&A outputs, improving consistency across reporting, and creating a clean handoff for the incoming permanent VP of Finance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own PE reporting deliverables end-to-end, ensuring accuracy and internal consistency across all submissions
  • Produce and coordinate the monthly board deck, partnering with Sales, Operations, and other teams to validate inputs before CFO review
  • Maintain the weekly 13-week rolling cash flow forecast and deliver weekly flash reporting from SAP using the existing Excel-based flash model
  • Prepare the monthly rolling outlook (e.g., 1+11 / 2+10 / 3+9) including variance-to-budget analysis and clear business narrative
  • Deliver monthly financial analysis packages (including MD&A-style outputs) for investor stakeholders
  • Assess and recommend practical improvements to the current Excel-based financial flash reporting model
  • Lead FP&A execution: forecasting, scenario analysis, decision support, and monthly outlook updates
  • Manage and develop FP&A resources; assess team capability and document recommendations for the permanent VP of Finance
  • Review and provide recommendations on finance systems/tools and reporting infrastructure (SAP v6, Adaptive Insights, Excel-heavy reporting environment)
  • Partner with Operations leadership on KPI development tied to operational value drivers and predictive performance indicators
  • Support operations excellence initiatives with cost and manufacturing-related financial insight (e.g., labor, routing, line speed, product cost drivers)
  • Provide cost accounting partnership to support efficiency and cost-out initiatives
  • Support Commercial leadership with financial input into pricing proposals and improvements to pricing models
  • Help define appropriate sales metrics and performance measurement aligned to the business model
  • Oversee month-end and quarter-end close to ensure reporting accuracy across all outputs
  • Begin mapping and formalizing elements of the internal controls framework (noting current gaps in ownership)
  • Document key learnings, improvements, and recommendations; ensure smooth transition of materials to the incoming permanent VP of Finance

What You Bring

  • Proven VP-level finance leadership capability with the ability to step in quickly and take full ownership of a finance function
  • Strong manufacturing finance / cost accounting background (required)
  • Experience in a PE-backed environment, including cadence and expectations for board/investor reporting
  • Deep FP&A capability including forecasting, modeling, variance analysis, and board-level outputs
  • Highly hands-on execution style suited to a lean, fast-paced organization with limited room for delegation-first leadership
  • Ability to produce accurate, consistent deliverables with strong attention to detail and clear business narrative behind results
  • Comfort working within an Excel-dependent reporting environment with manual extracts and heightened accuracy expectations
  • Working knowledge of SAP ERP (v6 preferred); able to operate functionally within the system
  • Ability to work on-site in Mississauga 5 days/week (non-negotiable)
  • Availability to start within approximately 2 weeks
