The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to oversee and manage the full-cycle AP function within a growing mid-sized manufacturing company. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring timely and accurate processing of payments, managing vendor relationships, and leading a small team of four AP professionals. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, process-driven, and thrives in a fast-paced environment with a mix of day-to-day execution and team leadership.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Oversee the full-cycle accounts payable process, including invoice entry, approvals, payment runs, and reconciliations.
- Manage and support a small team of AP clerks, providing guidance, training, and performance management.
- Ensure all vendor payments are processed accurately and on time, maintaining strong relationships with suppliers.
- Monitor the AP aging report, resolve outstanding issues, and investigate variances or discrepancies.
- Maintain and improve internal controls, policies, and procedures to support compliance and accuracy.
- Collaborate with purchasing, inventory, and finance teams to ensure alignment between AP and broader operational processes.
- Prepare month-end and year-end AP reports and assist with audit support as needed.
- Identify opportunities for automation or process improvement within the AP function.
What We Need From You:
- 5+ years of progressive experience in accounts payable, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
- Experience in a manufacturing or product-based environment preferred.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and AP best practices.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g. Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).
- Strong Excel skills and comfort with data reporting and analysis.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
