The Opportunity

The Value Builder System, a profitable and growing SaaS company, is seeking a high-impact, execution-oriented VP of Finance to guide the business through its next stage of growth. With a global client base, a recurring revenue model, and a well-established brand (rooted in the success of Built to Sell and its 3M+ download podcast), the company is entering a pivotal phase of increased operational rigor, and strategic scaling.

This newly defined role is designed for a finance leader who can combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution. You’ll take full ownership of core financial responsibilities, including budgeting, reporting, forecasting, compliance, and cash flow. As a key member of the leadership team, you’ll work closely with the CEO, offering strategic input, shaping the company’s narrative, and helping to drive execution that supports long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership

  • Lead all day-to-day finance operations, including month-end close, reporting, and cash flow management
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning
  • Develop and refine financial models to support decision-making
  • Drive improvements in collections and working capital

Strategic Planning & Investor Readiness

  • Serve as a key thought partner to the CEO and executive team
  • Provide strategic insights on business performance and growth opportunities

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Build trusted partnerships with other departments to support revenue forecasting and expense planning
  • Present financial information to both finance and non-finance stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner
  • Transform finance from a back-office function into a proactive business partner

Operations & Administration

  • Mentor and develop a small team, including an existing Senior Accountant
  • Lead internal control efforts and ensure regulatory and financial compliance across jurisdictions (Canada, US, and international)

Success Criteria & Deliverables

Within 3 Months:

  • Independently operate the finance function and stabilize cash flow forecasting
  • Improve collections and reduce accounts receivable days
  • Establish strong working relationships across departments
  • Retain and mentor the Senior Accountant
  • Build a reliable forecasting model

Within 12 Months:

  • Act as a key strategic member of the leadership team
  • Embed financial accountability into daily decision-making
  • Influence business performance with data-driven insights
  • Drive scalable systems and processes to support future growth

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of experience in senior finance roles, ideally in a B2B SaaS environment
  • CPA designation required
  • Strong command of FP&A, full-cycle accounting, internal controls, and compliance
  • Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with QuickBooks and Microsoft Dynamics is an asset
  • Experience supporting international operations (Canada, US, and globally)
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex financial concepts for all audiences
  • Proven success in founder-led, fast-paced, and remote-first environments
  • Strategic mindset balanced with a hands-on execution style
