Job Title: Accounting Manager
Location: Mississauga, ON (Onsite)
Compensation: $120,000 – $130,000
About the Role
This is a hands-on accounting leadership role responsible for financial reporting, internal controls, and the integrity of financial data. The Accounting Manager will own the month-end and year-end close cycle, drive process and policy development, and manage a small team of finance and accounting staff. The role sits within a manufacturing environment and works closely with senior finance leadership including the CFO.
Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP (ASPE and US)
- Deliver weekly 13-week cash flow reporting and facilitate weekly A/R Aging meetings to ensure timely collections and follow-ups
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all financial reporting; maintain consistency with applicable accounting standards
- Develop, implement, and maintain financial policies, internal controls, and procedures to safeguard company assets
- Prepare and maintain account reconciliations; identify and remediate control gaps
- Provide regular reporting on P&L, balance sheets, cash flow statements, cost centre performance, and budget vs. actual variance analysis
- Deliver financial analysis and ad hoc reports to senior management and ownership to support decision-making
- Manage the year-end audit process; liaise with external auditors, prepare financial statements, and provide note disclosures on a timely basis
- Collaborate with the Senior Manager FP&A, Senior Director Finance, and CFO on annual budget preparation
- Ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of financial systems and tools to improve efficiency and accuracy
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of three: Accounts Payable Clerk, AR & Billing Associate, and Financial Accountant
Requirements
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or Business Administration
- CPA designation (or equivalent professional accounting designation)
- Minimum 5 years of progressive finance experience; minimum 3 years in a supervisory or management role
- Manufacturing industry experience required
- Strong knowledge of GAAP — ASPE and US standards
- Advanced Excel proficiency (complex formulas, pivot tables, large data sets)
- Experience with ERP systems; SAP experience strongly preferred
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to resolve complex issues
- Effective communicator across departments and levels of seniority; comfortable presenting to senior leadership
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team within a dynamic manufacturing environment
