Director of Finance

Our client is a leading provider of geographic information system (GIS) solutions and a trusted partner to organizations across sectors. As the company continues to grow and evolve, Clarity Recruitment is supporting their search for a seasoned and strategic Director of Finance to lead their finance function and help drive operational excellence and long-term financial sustainability.
This is a key leadership position responsible for providing strategic oversight of all financial planning, reporting, and risk management activities. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Director will lead a collaborative team and play a critical role in supporting decision-making across the organization. The ideal candidate is a CPA with proven experience in SaaS revenue models and project-based accounting, along with the leadership capabilities to guide a team and contribute at the executive level.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic direction and operational oversight across all core finance functions, including financial planning and analysis, accounting, payroll, audit, tax, and compliance
- Lead and support Finance Managers across Financial Reporting, FP&A, and Accounting Services, ensuring consistent delivery of accurate, timely, and insightful financial data
- Partner with the CFO and cross-functional business leaders to develop forecasts, budgets, financial models, and strategic plans that align with company objectives
- Oversee monthly close processes, financial statement preparation, and coordination with external auditors and tax advisors
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, privacy requirements, and Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE)
- Evaluate financial risks and implement sound controls and mitigation strategies
- Support the implementation of financial systems and process improvements to enhance scalability and operational efficiency
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the finance team and across departments
Qualifications and Experience
- CPA designation is required
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in financial leadership, ideally within a mid to large-sized organization
- Strong technical expertise in ASPE, SaaS-based revenue recognition, and project-based accounting
- Prior experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred), and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Proven ability to lead high-performing teams and communicate financial concepts clearly to non-financial stakeholders
- Experience in a professional services, technology, or consulting environment is considered a strong asset
- Demonstrated strength in financial planning, risk management, and process optimization
